Helena Christensen is a celebrity that has stood the test of time and who over the years has earned worldwide respect for herself in her chosen fields of modeling and photography. Today, Helena Christensen is one of the top models sought by major labels and designers. She reigned supreme during the 1990’s and every serious designer sought to have her as a model for their outfits. The late designer Versace, declared her as the model with the most beautiful body and her antecedents accurately testify to this; she brings clothes to life with vivacity peculiar to her.

Her first foray into the world of modeling was when as Miss Denmark, she participated in the Miss Universe pageant. Even though she did not win, the experience proved invaluable and helped her decide what she wanted to do in life: become a top supermodel. The pursuit of this goal took her to Paris where her first professional shoot was for Elle magazine. The rest like is popularly said is history. Following the success of her Elle shoot, she was signed on by Vogue and suddenly, she became the toast of leading fashion designers from all over the globe.

Helena Christensen is perhaps best known for her work with Victoria’s Secret, every woman’s favorite. She is a regular feature in catalogs, magazines, TV ads and commercials. She’s also currently signed on as one of their signature angels alongside other models including Tyra Banks, Karen Mulder and Stephanie Seymour. Once described by Karl Lagerfeld as having the best legs in the industry, Helena Christensen is also a spokesperson for the cosmetics giant, Revlon.

Apart from modeling, Helena is also a serious and respected photographer. As a veteran model, she definitely has the experience and eyes for photography. Some of her works include A Quiet Story, an exhibition that was first premiered in Rotterdam at the Locus Gallery in 2006 and in Amsterdam in 2007 at the Hotel Arena. Also, in 2008/2009 Helena Christensen had another exhibition, Far From Close in support of educational programs by the International Center of Photography and the Chernobyl Children’s Project International at Dactyl Foundation. Her shoots have appeared in Elle, Nylon and Marie Claire.

Not resting on her laurels, Helena Christensen ventured successfully into business by launching her own clothing line Christensen & Sigersen together with her childhood friend Leif Sigersen. She was also the creative director for Nylon in 1999. Apart from modeling, photography and business, Christensen has also participated in several television and film projects including Fashionably Loud, a fashion show by MTV; the 1991 Chris Isaak music video Wicked Game and the 1992 movie, Inferno.

Helena Christensen gained widespread popularity for her portrayal of Isaak’s girlfriend in the video which was recently named as MTV’s Sexiest Video of All Time. Recently, she launched the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer campaign, a breast cancer initiative. Currently signed on to One management in New York, Independent Models in London and 2pm Model Management in Copenhagen, Christensen continues to delight her fans worldwide in magazines and on runways.
